Preparing walls for painting
- Start by removing any hooks or screws in the walls, run your eye over the whole room, and for your safety wear work gloves.
- Fill any holes with the appropriate filler and allow to dry before lightly sanding down.
- Cleaning and dust down all walls, and skirting/woodwork.
- If you woodwork shows any cracks around architrave or skirting, use chaulk to run along the tops of woodwork, and run your finger over to smooth.
- Lightly sanding the area, you are painting with a medium or fine grit paper to ensure a smooth finish.
- Newly plastered walls will need priming before painting, mixing a small amount of paint with 10% water will do the trick. Then you are ready to begin painting !!
