Preparing walls for painting

  1. Start by removing any hooks or screws in the walls, run your eye over the whole room, and for your safety wear work gloves.
  2. Fill any holes with the appropriate filler and allow to dry before lightly sanding down.
  3. Cleaning and dust down all walls, and skirting/woodwork.
  4. If you woodwork shows any cracks around architrave or skirting, use chaulk to run along the  tops of woodwork, and run your finger over to smooth.
  5. Lightly sanding the area, you are painting with a medium or fine grit paper to ensure a smooth finish.
  6. Newly plastered walls will need priming before painting, mixing a small amount of paint with 10% water will do the trick. Then you are ready to begin painting !!
